Confront Your U. S. Senators with the Truth
- 19-7-09
It is difficult for conservative people to talk about the details of the Hate Crimes bill; and that is part of the reason why the homosexual movement has been able to fool so many people, including Congressmen. Polite society does not want to talk about the bizarre, unhealthy, and perverse activities in which gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgender people participate.
Â
This time the homosexual lobby has gone too far. It is time for us to quit skirting the issue and confront it head on with the facts. Our U. S. Senators need to hear from us right now, and we need to communicate to them in no uncertain terms that we do not want any form of the Hate Crimes bill passed -- not even if it means they must vote against the Defense budget (S. B. 909 -- http://thomas.loc.gov).Â
Â
Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nevada) and Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) -- trying to please their gay, lesbian, transsexual, bisexual constituents -- pulled a fast one. Sen. Reid took out the F-22 fighter plane from the Defense budget and instead substituted the Hate Crimes bill -- as if the Hate Crimes bill has anything to do with national defense!
Â
Neither the House Hate Crimes bill (passed on 4.29.09 -- HR 1913) nor the Senate Hate Crimes bill defines what "sexual orientation" includes; the word "perceive" used in the bill would open the door for the "thought police" to operate in our country; and the American Psychiatric Association's bizarre sexual activities would be protected under the Hate Crimes law. (Please see list that follows.) Â
Â
Do you as an American citizen want these bizarre sexual activities protected under the Hate Crmes law? Surely no clear-thinking person would.Â

Â

Ms. Garner,
If polite society indeed does not want to discuss sexual activities, why the list of 30 philias?
Polite society benefits from a mature tolerance of all such philias, which are part of the human condition, whether we like it or not.
We all benefit when we view our passions with humility, understanding that they arise from sources outside of our control, and like accidents of birth, afford us little reason for special pride or privileges.
Enlightened society benefits from acceptance of our differences and understanding that love is indeed the glue that binds us to each other in our common humanity, and which we have an obligation to share consistent with our passions and within the parameters of doing no harm. Hate crimes seeks to protect those who find themselves in the minority, and who, because they arouse disgust and negative emotions in some, are especially vulnerable.
In the end, we all have an obligation to accept and embrace our sexuality and to conduct ourselves with prudence.
When one of us attacks and physically harms another, especially for a characteristic over which we have no control, we not only diminish our humanity but also grant ourselves a place in the world which we neither merit nor for which we should properly strive.
May we live in peace with one another.
Â
Prometheus: There are "many passions that arise from sources outside of our control." Nevertheless, as a prosecutor and defense attorney for over 20 some years, I can assure you that our society does not look the other way and assume that the individual has no obligation to control those passions. Alcoholism, gambling, drug addiction and even over eating are all arguably conditions that arise outside of our control.  But we as a society do not tolerate nor excuse the aberrant results of behavior coming from these conditions. While we should not, as a society, refuse to allow discussion of activities some find disgusting, evil or abnormal, we are not required as a society to view them as "normal" nor as acceptable.Â
Texas Mom,
A society has no justification in prohibiting or regulating actions that, while some may find unacceptable, do no significant or tangible harm to another.
It is the basis of liberty that we are each free to pursue our individual goals as long as we harm no one else.
Disgust or disagreeableness, even moral objection, to actions which the state wishes to prohibit has to be based on the reality or possibility of infringing on the rights of others.
And no one has a "right" not to be offended.
