Ode to President Obama: JOBS!!!

Where are they?  You promised to create more jobs!

You promised to create road building jobs as did your hero FDR!  Millions of Americans need work.

So, where are the jobs?  You promised.

Instead, you tell people to go back to school or to retrain.  For what?  There are no jobs!!!

We voted for you because you promised "change".  Well it has changed, but NOT in a more positive way for the majority.  Unemployment is spreading!

So, where are the jobs?  You promised us.  So, where are the jobs?

Violence is escalating while state and local governments have to cut police and firemen.

So, where are the jobs?  You promised.

Instead, I see you on talk shows and at the MLB All-Star game, laughing it up with Tim McCarver, et. al.

So, where are the jobs?  You promised.

Americans still are hurting.  You promised change.  It is changing, but not for the better.

So, where are the jobs?  You promised!!!

My favorite question for my Obama-voting friends: "How's that change working for you?"

Obama supporters:  The stimulus package included dollars for education. In turn, hundreds of teachers have been terminated due to budget cutbacks.  Simple math, addition produces the sum, not differences or losses.  The stimulus package added debt for generations to come and losses starting immediately.  Are you better off now than 8 months ago?  Imagine wheeing borned.  Are you will be in 6 more months with government mandated healthcare AND unemployed.  Imagine the students you teach today will owe more than 730,000 per household just by bUnfortunately, it hasn't worked for Canada nor Mexico.  Ask those who have experienced it...  Don't take anyone's word, check out the facts.

So, if I read him correctly, Peter Stern is upset that Obama, having been in office about six months, has not reversed a problem that has been years in the making. Perhaps Mr. Stern can enlighten us as to how he would solve this global problem in six months.

I think you have it wrong.  Mr. Stern did not say that.  He (and I, too) expect Obama to start mending these problems and to make good on his promise to develop jobs for American citizens.  So far, Obama and Congress have not done so.

Mr. Stern refers to Obama's "hero" Pres. Franklin Roosevelt who created national jobs that provided jobs and rebuilt U.S. infrastructures, which in turn, boosted the economy.

Obama could do the same thing, but so far, has only bailed-out huge corporations and incurring vast additional debt.

Mr. Stern is correct in his statements and opinions.  Obama and Congress could have done much more to stimulate the economy by providing more Americans with jobs that rebuild our infrastructures.

I agree with Mr. Stern 100 percent, and so should you.

Ed Q,

Methinks you miss the point. Our illustrious leader promised to fix all these things, never once cautiioning that it might take years to do so. He built his constituency on the basis of immediate relief from all the ills foisted upon us by the evil Republicans and their most-evil-of-all leader, George Bush, all the while knowing that the truth would not buy him votes. Now, with all indicators continuing to slide, the truth is gradually becoming apparent...he has no clue how to fix it. Going in debt to reduce debt is an idiot's solution and, in a substantial way, what is to blame for the situation faced by so many American families. We were sold a bill of goods to provide an opportunity for Obama and company to ram their socialist agenda down our throats. The current crisis, as Rahm Emmanuel so blatantly stated, was too good of an opportunity to miss. The honeymoon is over...

This ode hits home. There are a lot of Americans unemployed and this President goes to Russia.
Mr. President when will you help the American People. You told us you would stop outsourcing but
you send Hillary Clinton to India to make outsourcing faster. Shame on you Mr President.
The President that started a lot but did not finish nothing. Wake Up America.

Again, you are incorrect.  Obama DID mention that it will take time to turn things around; however, he also stated that providing jobs was a priority.  However, few jobs have been created during his tenure.

There is no real reason that Obama and Congress could not provide the incentives for businesses to hire Americans.

In addition, the government itself could have provided federal jobs to rebuild our ailing infrastructures.  It would have been easy and smart to provide the tax dollars to do this instead of throwing more tax dollars to big corporations who hang on to the money or provide bonuses to their high-level execs.
